Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Focus Buddy ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the App, related support pages, and support communications.

1. Information We Collect

  • supporter display names and focus-user display names used for consent-based pairing
  • supporter-authored shield messages and selected sticker style
  • pairing code/state and explicit focus events such as requested more time, sent nudge, blocker enabled, pairing revoked, grace started, and focus completed
  • support messages, screenshots, device details, or app version details that you choose to send by email

Focus Buddy does not collect or share:

  • selected app identities
  • opaque Screen Time tokens
  • app usage totals
  • location
  • contacts
  • photos or videos from your library
  • health or fitness data
  • browsing or search history
  • advertising identifiers

2. How We Use Information

  • to provide consent-based pairing between the focus user and supporter
  • to sync supporter shield messages and explicit focus events when CloudKit mode is enabled
  • to store Screen Time selections locally so Apple Screen Time extensions can monitor and shield selected apps
  • to respond to support, privacy, and bug-report requests
  • to comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing

We do not sell personal information and do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. In CloudKit mode, pairing data, supporter messages, and explicit focus events are stored in Apple iCloud/CloudKit so the paired devices can sync. Screen Time selections, selected app identities, opaque tokens, and usage totals are not sent to supporters or uploaded by Focus Buddy.

4. App Store Payments

Focus Buddy does not include subscriptions or in-app purchases in version 1. If that changes, App Store purchases and refunds will be handled by Apple.

5. Retention and Deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear it in the app, revoke permissions, or delete the app. CloudKit pairing data, supporter messages, explicit focus events, and per-pairing subscriptions are deleted when you unpair and delete shared data or clear local data while CloudKit mode is configured. Support emails may be retained as needed to respond to requests, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and protect the service.

6. Your Choices

  • you can grant or revoke individual Screen Time authorization in iOS settings
  • you can choose which apps are monitored using Apple’s FamilyActivityPicker
  • you can disable the blocker, unpair, revoke pairing, and clear local data in the app
  • you can use Local preview mode instead of CloudKit mode for same-device demos
  • you can request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
