FAQ

Does Focus Buddy monitor someone else’s phone?

No. Focus Buddy is for adults managing their own iPhone. The focus user grants individual Screen Time permission on their own device and can disable the blocker, revoke authorization, unpair, or clear local data.

What can a supporter see?

Supporters receive only explicit events after consent-based pairing, such as a nudge or a request for more time. They do not receive selected app identities, Screen Time tokens, or usage totals.

How does blocking work?

The focus user chooses apps locally with Apple’s picker and enables a daily 20-minute threshold. iOS Screen Time APIs trigger the shield; Focus Buddy does not overlay or inspect third-party apps.

Pricing

Focus Buddy does not include subscriptions or in-app purchases in version 1. If that changes in the future, purchases and refunds will be handled by Apple.

Pairing and Data Controls

Focus Buddy does not create a username/password account. Screen Time selections stay on your device as opaque Apple tokens. If you enable CloudKit pairing, the app syncs pairing state, supporter-authored shield content, and explicit focus events through your iCloud account. You can disable the blocker, unpair, revoke Screen Time authorization, and clear local data from Settings in the app.
